Hello Ilana! I thought I would send you another update. It's been quite a while since i've seen you...unfortunately my company has sent me to Alaska since mid april and I have to stay at least until august. The good news is I have taken every chance i've had to hike and site see and that has complimented my nutrition I think. You may be surprised the next time you see me.
Well, I went shopping this weekend for a new pair of jeans. I held off for months on getting new clothes for fear that smaller clothes would not fit me. I went in initially looking for a size 38 waist and at the last moment, grabbed a size 36, without trying them in the store (wanted it to be a surprise!). Not only could I wear them Ilana, I had more than enough room to have them fairly baggy on me. I believe I can easily fit in a size 34 waist. Here's the thing...when I first met with you, I was wearing a size 44 waist 'relaxed fit' and they were becoming tight. I can't believe it! I haven't worn anything less than a size 38 waist since my freshman year of high school and now I have extra room in a 36!
That is the true payoff. I can barely notice the difference in myself when I look in a mirror or take a photo but to put on pants I could not have hoped to put one leg in months ago and they fit, no wiggling or holding my breath? That brings a smile! If I haven't told you before, you're awesome!

Hi Ilana... a quick update for you... the last few races have been a success (last one is this weekend). The trip to Boston and all of the hoopla over making weight went off without a hitch. My goal was 132, but i ended up weighing in at 129.8. I number i NEVER thought i would see again. Needless to say, i am back to a comfortable 133-135. I am going to try to maintain around here this winter and start some strength training in December or January (take some time off and enjoy the holidays). This last race of the season is this weekend and I only have to weigh in at 135, so I don't have any fears of hitting that. I have to say...I made quite a few converts with the protien shakes (good thing i brought my blender to Boston). Anyway, maybe early next month I can come in and we can talk about maintenance? I would like to get my body fat tested now so I have something to work for with the strength training this winter.
thanks so very much for all fo your help... without your plan, I don't think I would be racing quite as good.

Ilana, This week is my 52nd week working with you as my dietitian. It doesn't seem that long but time flies when good things happen. With your help and guidance I have lost close to 50 lbs. Just this past week I had my periodic blood test performed by my physician and my total Cholesterol level is 129. My lowest level in so many years I can?t remember. The one item that gives me so much pleasure, other than losing the weight, is purchasing smaller size clothing. It feels so good looking at myself in a mirror. Prior to you I would never do that. I have learned so much from you about the right foods to eat and when to eat them. With all that we have done you made it so very easy following your directions and using common sense to eating. I have really never been hungry eating the smart foods and at the times that you suggest. And all along I was losing weight. I don?t remember the cost of our working together but it was worth every penny. You are worth twice as much for what you have helped me to accomplish. We are not finished yet! More pounds to lose and more smaller clothes to buy. All I can say is ? THANK YOU!!! Joe

Just wanted to say hello and say congratulations on all your success. (I heard you onthe radio last week). Anyway, Dewanda and I are still doing well and sticking to the program.I had a lapse for a couple of months (mostly sweets)!!, but of course, Dewanda constantly reminded me that "Ilana wouldn't like that". The good news is we both had our physicals recently and our blood sugar, cholesterol etc. levels were all improved. Dewanda's levels are ridiculously good, so I?ve got some catching up to do!

I also want to say thank you so much for all of your help with my goal. I did reach my goal of 115 lbs by the wedding (which I was ecstatic about!). It made such a difference. And my results seem to have paid off for you, as it seems as though there are quite a few people who have solicited your services as a result. Don't worry, there are quite a few more people that I know who are thinking about contacting you. I think you are going to need another vacation soon!
